Welcome to the new BotH₂nia website!
The vision of turning the "Gulf of Bothnia to the new Persian Gulf" and "tar magnates to hydrogen magnates" will soon be one year old. So far, only a small group of selected people have collaborated online to develop the Baltic Sea area's sustainable energy transition. Now, at last, we can organise in-person meetings and launch our regular public updates on Nordic hydrogen cooperation.
CLIC Innovation's Green Electrification Ecosystem kicked off the idea that originated from Hydrogen Cluster Finland. Funding and more hands-on-deck came from a two-year project called National Hydrogen Network led by Raahe Region Development.
One of the National Hydrogen Network objectives is to create operating models for continuous Nordic hydrogen cooperation to enhance the area's visibility, particularly in Central Europe. In addition to the development and marketing of the BotH2nia brand, the National Hydrogen Network focuses on a couple of crucial questions for hydrogen economy stakeholders:
- Making use of new business opportunities
- Solving land-use issues
- Advancing competence
BotH₂nia combines the public and the private sectors and crosses country borders
BotH2nia's earliest network members are from Finland and Sweden, consisting of small and large companies, cities and research institutes. Soon, the list is to be extended with the member organisations of the National Hydrogen Network, which are mainly active in the public sector.
Cooperation between members from different sectors will create essential opportunities in developing the hydrogen economy.
The network is also continuously inviting new members.
BotH₂nia is a network of hydrogen-focused collaborators, with the primary objective of facilitating good communication between its members. The intent of BotH2nia has never been to replace existing industry actors but to bring them together. Cooperation will ensure fast learning from the knowledge of others and, thus, boost the building of hydrogen infrastructure in the Nordic countries. The world's first hydrogen gulf, placed in a uniquely suitable area for demonstrating a greener future, becomes easier to promote globally with a shared and familiar brand.
From project meetings to public BotH₂nia events and theme groups
The first project meetings of the National Hydrogen Network were organised in Vaasa, Finland, on 11 November 2021 and online on 19 January 2022. In Vaasa, the meeting participants seized the opportunity to explore local business life. From this experience, the idea of organising future (public) workshops with strong local and international representation was born.
The first BotH2nia event will be organised in Kokkola, Finland, on 16 March 2022. The event will include a public meeting followed by a project meeting. In the project meeting, network members will be divided into themed groups working towards the group's goals. Information about the themed groups and BotH2nia events will become available on this site.
