New Finnish Government supports investments in the renewable energy sector

On Tuesday 20 June, the President of the Republic appointed Finland’s 77th Government, led by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo. At the same time, the President released the ministers in Prime Minister Marin’s Government from their duties as members of the Government. The Government headed by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will consist of 19 ministers: 8 from the National Coalition Party, 7 from the Finns Party, 2.5 from the Swedish People’s Party and 1.5 from the Christian Democrats.

New Finnish Government supports investments in the renewable energy sector

In Finland, the recently published new Government Programme includes several measures to support and increase investments in the renewable energy sector. Legislative changes can be anticipated, when the new government starts implementing the various goals in the Government Programme. Some of the main goals for the Finnish energy sector include:
 
➡ Good operating conditions for sustainable investments in renewable and fossil-free energy production, energy storage and new energy solutions, such as hydrogen
➡ A new energy and climate strategy, the central part of which is the industrial energy transition and investment promotion
➡ A one-stop shop model in permit processes and coordination
➡ Better predictability of permitting
➡ Clarification concerning Finland’s EEZ legislation and offshore wind power production
