Hycamite chooses Caverion as its maintenance partner
Hycamite is about to start production in Kokkola. The plant, which will produce pure hydrogen and high quality carbon, will be the largest in Europe and technologically emission-free. Hycamite has chosen Caverion as its maintenance partner for the plant.

"Our technology has attracted great international interest. It is very important for us to get production up and running in Kokkola, and we need reliable, competent partners to support us. Caverion's local presence and comprehensive service offering convinced us," says Laura Rahikka, CEO of Hycamite.
The framework agreement between Hycamite and Caverion covers production maintenance and building services. The plant will soon be able to produce up to 6 000 tonnes of high quality coal and 2 000 tonnes of low carbon hydrogen per year.
"Hycamite has pioneering technology, an inspiring culture and a strong belief in what we do. The green transition requires concrete scalable actions and innovative approaches. It's great to be part of Hycamite's journey here in Kokkola. I hope that our cooperation will continue to expand in the future," says Marko Liius, Regional Director for Industrial Central Ostrobothnia at Caverion.
Sustainable technology
Hycamite's Kokkola plant is designed to demonstrate the viability of the technology developed by the company on an industrial scale. Hycamite's technology breaks down methane into hydrogen and carbon without releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Hycamite's carbon products are suitable as raw material for batteries, for example. Pure, so-called turquoise hydrogen can be used as a feedstock for industry or as a fuel for marine transport, for example.
