Finland is quietly undergoing a hydrogen revolution - see the hydrogen projects on the map
Harjavalta, Kokkola, Kristiinankaupunki, Naantali, Lahti, Tampere, Pori... Hydrogen plants are springing up in Finland like mushrooms in the rain. The latest news on the hydrogen plans came late last week from Ranua.
"Green hydrogen will be used to make fuel for transport, raw materials for the chemical industry, steel and even food. Hydrogen will also be used to store excess electrical energy for windless moments.
The 23 investments put together by YLE are worth nearly €10 billion.
Most of them are in the planning stage, applying for environmental permits or seeking financing. Only a few have taken concrete investment decisions.
