Nordic Hydrogen Valleys Conference
Shaping the realisation of hydrogen valleys in the Nordic region
Why are the Nordics collaborating on hydrogen valleys? What are the priorities in the Nordic countries and among decision makers? How are these priorities aligned with national energy and climate targets? What desicions are first movers making and how soon will we experience their impact? At the Nordic Hydrogen Valleys Conference 2025, these questions are up for discussion, in relation to topics such as:
- Nordic decisionmakers on building hydrogen value chains
- Lessons from hydrogen researchers: insights and answers
- Mapping Nordic hydrogen valleys: highlighting Nordic strongholds
Discover the building blocks of hydrogen valleys in the Nordics
At the Nordic Hydrogen Valleys Conference, you will be part of the dialogue on issues ranging from technical recommendations to social acceptance. The sessions will dig into upscaling, feasibility, and applied hydrogen cases, including issues such as:
- The hydrogen economy: regulations and best practices.
- Hydrogen safety in a new security paradigm
- Hydrogen materials for a Nordic geography
- An inclusive hydrogen society
Meet the projects of the Nordic Hydrogen Valleys programme
The Nordic Hydrogen Valleys as Energy Hubs Programme funds five Nordic research projects, all focused on strengthening the Nordic position by demonstrating solutions that service the entire hydrogen value chain. By participating in the conference, you will learn more and interact with the institutions and companies part of:
- Rally to the Valley: Establishing Hydrogen Value Chains for the Nordics (Nord_H2ub)
- Hydrogen, Ammonia and Methanol in hydrogen hubs in the Nordic region (H2AMN)
- Nordic Hydrogen Hubs – Roadmaps towards 2030 and 2040 (NordicH2ubs)
- Hydrogen Safety and Improved Permit Processes (H2SIPP)
- Material and Structural Integrity Assessment for safe Nordic Hydrogen Transportation Infrastructure (MatHias)
Site visits
The Nordic Hydrogen Valleys Conference will include three site visits, to the facilities of HYBRIT, Swerim, and Luleå University of Technology laboratories.
- HYBRIT (Hydrogen Breakthrough Ironmaking Technology) is a Swedish initiative to produce fossil-free steel by replacing coal with hydrogen, eliminating CO2 emissions in steelmaking.
- Swerim is a Swedish metals research institute focused on advancing sustainable, innovative technologies in mining, steel, and metalworking, in collaboration with industry and academia.
